Sustainability

Sustainability has always been a important topic to me. This write-up contains some basic questions on what this concept means to me and how I can improve the planets overall well being.

Times are constantly changing and sustainability has become a huge concept for not only certain individuals, but also businesses and corporations. Companies like Yeti, Patagonia, Evrnu, and other sustainable corporations are making huge impacts on sustainability, recycling, their carbon footprint, and incorporating reusable materials into their everyday products. Not only are these businesses working with other corporations, but they're paving a new path for out future. I think many people and big corporations can learn from these companies and start making a change that is bigger than themselves. It's important to educate yourself and other individuals on whats happening in todays world and how important it is to recognize these harmful changes that are coming our way.

1. What does sustainability mean to you?

Sustainability to me means practicing safe economical choices when creating products, delivering products, and the global Carbon footprint it can leave behind. Throughout the past couple years sustainability has been a huge topic in all aspects of the world. This ranges from retail, fashion, construction, and more. Many companies have had to implement this concept into their everyday routines and their overall businesses. Its been seem by consumers that businesses that don’t implement sustainability receive large amounts of backlash and a decrease in revenue. With being in the fashion major I have seen how important it is to be more sustainable in the fashion industry and how much of an impact the fashion world has done to our planet.

2. What do sustainability and retail mean to you?

Sustainability and retail are two concepts that are beginning to go hand in hand. The retail world has to start practicing sustainability and proving that they’re doing so. The retail world has gone so long with not worrying about their impact on the planet that is has finally caught up with them. They now have to worry about how they package their products, ship their products, how they make them, and think about the overall cause is could cause to the planet. Sustainability gave the retail world the biggest reality check they’ve ever gotten.

3. What is your part or role as an individual living on this Earth to help preserve the environment?

My part as an individual in this world is to be more conscious of consuming and overall buying products. Looking at what products are made out of and what the company practices is a huge aspect that many people need to pay attention to. Watching my carbon footprint is also another aspect that many people and myself included need to pay attention to. This involves driving around, the amount of waste you produce, and more.
